2009 Hunter Bio
Name: Mike Slygh
Location: Fall Creek, WI
Turkey Hunting Experience: 20 Years
About: Mike has hunted turkeys for over 20 years and says each year is as
exciting if not more exciting than the last. Mike has hunted in Kansas,
Wisconsin, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, Nebraska and Iowa where he once
bagged a turkey with his muzzleloader. Though he loves turkey hunting, Mike says hunting elk in Wyoming with a bow has produced some of his most exciting
hunts. In his words, "Hunting alone in the Rocky Mountains with a bow, trying to
kill a 750 pound bull is bound to be exciting, especially when you bugle one in.".
Organizations: Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and supporter of the Kicking Bear One-on-One mentoring program.
Advice For Novice Hunters: "The best tip I can give any beginning turkey hunter is to be patient, which of course requires
the equally important skill of being still. Mistakes will always be made, but if you can be patient and set up in such a way that you can be motionless prior to making the shot, you will have greater success."
